The PV-10A10F is a Bussmann photovoltaic fuse rated 1000 Vdc at 10 A in a 10 by 38 mm ferrule body. It is designed for the string protection of a solar installation, where the fault current is DC and the ambient temperature is high, so it carries the gPV class and meets UL 2579 and IEC 60269-6. A photovoltaic array cannot be switched off like a mains supply, and its fault current flows without a natural zero crossing, so the fuse must be specifically rated for the DC voltage and the low-overload conditions of a solar array; an AC branch fuse must never be substituted. The PV-A10 series covers 1 A to 20 A and is available in ferrule, bolt-fixing, PCB and in-line versions with crimp terminals, so a string can be protected in the combiner or at the module. It is normally fitted in a matched finger-safe holder such as the CHPV or an inline holder, and the fuse and holder are chosen as a pair.
